A farmer has an old donkey. One day, the donkey accidentally fell into a dry well. The farmer thought hard about how to save his donkey. A few hours passed and he still couldnÂ’t get it out of the well. The donkey, still in the well, kept crying. Finally, the farmer decided to give it up.
To save its pain, he decided to fill the well up and bury the donkey in it. The man got a big shovel and started filling the well up with soil. When the donkey realized that the old man was trying to bury it alive, it cried even louder. But after a while, the donkey suddenly went quiet.
The curious farmer went to take a look at the bottom of the well and fully understood what happened: when the soil from the shovel dropped on the donkeyÂ’s back, it moved its body such that the soil would fall and land on the ground. Each time after that, it stood on top of that pile of soil, lifting it up higher every time. The donkeyÂ’s despair had totally gone. It was then full of hope for living. The farmer, suddenly realizing something, quickened his movements. The donkey reached the top of the well and was eventually saved!
The donkey faced obstacles from its surrounding in its fight for survival: the farmerÂ’s decision to bury it alive, the falling soil that could bury it and the well being so deep down. Do you think those are all the obstacles it faced? No. The greatest obstacle came when the donkey itself felt despair and gave up its hope for living. The donkey could not do anything to the obstacles that came from its surrounding. But it could change its mindset! The falling soil could kill it. The falling soil could also save it. ThatÂ’s how it got saved.
Your mindset could determine whether you will be doomed or you will be safe. Whether to advance or to retreat? ThatÂ’s the difference between the bold and the timid. If you are bold, you will know that escaping wonÂ’t solve the problem; face it bravely and you will win the battle. Difficulties are not frightening. It is frightening when we donÂ’t have the courage to fight and win the battle against the difficulties. Next time when you face obstacles, think of this story, it will give you courage to face the obstacles. Honman is the owner http://www.my1stopcentre.com.
